Pretty sweet application that takes a artist of your choosing and matches it with other artists with a similar sound, and creates a "station" that plays that type of music. Great way to find new music that you may otherwise not be exposed too.

that's kinda cool, not sure if i like the way it matches the makeup of the songs to other songs that are similar in construction. I picked two bands that I liked and went through all the others, didn't hear anything that appealed to me. interesting though.

Yeah, pretty neat.
The wife sent me to the site. I was hesitant at first. (Name sounded like something a little risky)

You guys should check out Pandora Internet Radio. It's different from other internet radios, because as it plays music for you, you tell it whether or not you like what you're hearing, and it adjusts what it plays so that you hear more stuff with similar musical qualities.

For example, I have a station that plays fast music with heavy double bass drumming and crazy guitar solos, and I also have a station that only plays acoustic guitar pieces. Very cool.

Kinda hard to explain, but addictive, once you train it properly. You'll never have to change the station again!

It's free to use, although you have to create an account, but there's no emails or spam or anything.

I highly recommend you try it out, I love it!

I know what you mean, but you have to train it by telling it a song is great or crappy. It takes a couple hours of working with it before it really starts to be good, but it gets there. Patience, young Jedi.

recently stumbled back on this site, quickly turned a productive afternoon into a new music hunt, seems to have really improved!

Thnx for sharing, I like...

Man... Pandora is now an addiction for Meg. She's making me add to my already 260gig mp3 collection. lol

I jam out on this sometimes. Pretty cool.

Isn't Pandora about to go off the air any day now? Internet radio stations are required to pay some silly high royalty rate that will bankrupt Pandora.

Posted by: RupturedDust

I haven't heard anything about that, but I hope not. I know that they have alot of advertisements on the site which presumably would offset at least some of the royalties costs....

Here's just one link, but if you Google for "Pandora shutting down" you will get lots of hits:

Wow, that's a shame. I've been using Pandora to find new music I like, and then buy it. Way to go, record companies, you're shedding customers any way you can nowadays!

Ain't that the truth.

Copyright laws have gone nuts! It's almost gotten to the point that if you hear a song you like, then walk down the street humming it, you're breaking the law! Crazy!
End of rant.

i think pandora may be safe for a bit longer - the only thing they have had to change is to block out non-US users.

It really does feel this way. I do not approve.
