2005 Fieldsheer Positano Race gloves

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

While I was City Motorsports checking out the store - I mentioned that I needed a new pair of race gloves since I wore a hole through my A-Star Sp-1's.

They immediately showed me a pair of Feildsheer Positano Race gloves in black/black.

I picked them up for $60 (look on line at what they are going for! ~120+shipping)

Features Diagram:

* Racing design
* Drum dyed cow & aniline finished goat skin upper
* Kangaroo palm
* Aramide thread throughout (Kevlar is the DuPont tradename)
* Double layered leather outside palm & pinky finger
* Gel dot bar grips - helps throttle control with 2 finger braking
* Additional cowhide layer with gel padding on lower palm
* Hard carbon fiber protectors on knuckles, finger & side of palm
* Ventilation perforations between fingers
* Wrist watch window (watch not included)
* Aramide & SP insulation
* Velcro fastened, carbon fiber padded wrist adjuster

They have a whole box and a half of them left at this price - and they said they can ship them out if you want to order them.

I found they run a size larger than the label - as I usually take a S Alpinstars glove - but took an XS in this glove (SHUT UP! )

Run size large....so I would need a large? Are they double wrist enclosure?

I need some new gloves, do they have a website?

Posted by: Falcn

Yes they have the double wrist closure - one on the wrist and one on the gauntlet. I think that is what the two little pictures on the bottom right are supposed to represent.

I found this by Googling.

I don't think they have their e-commerce website up yet.

HOLY CRAP!

I wore them on the way to work this morning to start breaking them in, well I didn't need to worry about it. They are already soft and compliant....uh where was I? OH YEAH, gloves...

The kangaroo palms and fingers give TREMENDOUS feel of the bars and levers. I never knew how much input I was missing (that was my initial reaction).

OK - these things have huge gauntlets. No problem if you wear them over skinny leather suit cuffs. Won't fit too well over my GX Air with both liners installed, but I didn't buy them for that anyway - just thought you might like to know.

You may have talked me into a pair....will they give the $60 for an over the phone purchase?

Does it seem like the dye will bleed onto your hands? My last 2 pair of gloves have, I've been eyeing the Astars GP Tech's with white palms because of it....or a pair of Held glvoes.

I'll call them up if I get a chance.

It was semi wet this morning - no color transfer. Haven't gotten em soaked and don't plan on it unless it is raining at the track.

Your palms will stay the same color since the kangaroo is not dyed.

Yes they said they would give the $60 price over the phone. I would expect them to do so especially if you told them I mentioned it.

Hey you could always make a run up here this Saturday and check em out - then run home on Sunday.

Thanks alot for the mention Ryan!
We're more than happy to take phone orders for just about anything.

If you're contemplating a time to come check them out, we're having our first weekly bikenight of the year this Saturday (and every Saturday through the season).

It's looking like low 60's and possibly drizzling, so we're gonna need all the real riders to come out! The squids will likely be at home cleaning their sandals and polishing their levers.

Take care all!

Thread about the Bike Night.

No problem. I'm happy with the gloves - never had Kangaroo palm ones before.

i'll add that kangaroo is awesome! you can even dig around in your wallet with them on and not drop anything, gotta love it.

nice find ryan, nice price joel

Justin - anything to add about the gloves?

Posted by: Justin

Well, the pair I ordered have held up pretty well. One big street spill, several small ones on the the YSR and they are still there. I prefer my old Teknic Speedstars for street riding though, slightly larger throughout even though they are both Mediums.
The ones I have are the center set

With the Positano's I can't wear my ring or watch, but I don't wear them during the YSR races anyway, which is what I bought them for, and they match my black leathers better than the red Speedstars. They definitely remind me of the Speedstars back when I first got them 3 years ago, love the kangaroo palm. I may order another pair in the next larger size to replace the Speedstars for street riding, if Joel still has any.

Hmm I have skinny fingers so I don't have that problem with the rings. I wear my wedding ring and my spinner ring without issues under them.

Mine are nice and broken in now, especially after I rode with them in the rain one time and got them soaked. I am really liking these gloves.

These gloves are still being used and are holding up well after 2 season of street riding and a season and a half of racing (with a few low sides).

Sounds like an excellent pair of gloves. I tried searching for a pair online compareable to the price you paid but they still go for 120 =(. If I could find them for 60 I would snag them up.

Posted by: Falcn

I wonder if City Motorsports still has any?....hmmm.

Posted by: DMCCOY

I thought of that =) It was the first website I checked. The link they have for fieldsheer is not working for me.

THANKS!

I think I am in the same situation as you as far as glove size goes. My hands are 7 7/8 inches around the palm so usually I am a small. Fieldsheer says ~8 inches is a S. So I'm thinking if they run a size large, go with XS. What are the chances you have a cloth measureing tape around Falcn so that you could possibly mention what your hand size is to see if I should order the S or XS? (sounds like a crazy question I know) =)

Posted by: Falcn

The chances are 100% since I am married.

I get around 8 1/4 inches circumference for my palm at the very widest part. Right around the knuckles I get 7 3/4. I'd say def. get the XS.

Thanks falcn, Im going to order them later today =) with any luck, they will be here before my track days next weekend.

Whoa, those are nice gloves for the money!

Posted by: DMCCOY

Wow, just checked the link you posted Falcn, and now the gloves are on closeout for 41.00 =)

Posted by: RupturedDust

MATTHEW!!!

Posted by: Falcn

Holy sheeet. I might have to buy a second pair if they are only $41. I paid $20 more for my current pair.

Posted by: DMCCOY

I'm calling today. Its says 41.00 closeout, but when I click on one and add it to the cart it registers as 66.00 ..........

Posted by: DMCCOY

I called the 1-800 number and I was told they are out of the gloves. Their website is having problems and the ad for the gloves were supposed to be removed already =(

Posted by: Falcn

Damnit!

Well there is always motorcyclecloseouts
