Fog City Proshield

I've been having issues with my visor fogging lately. It was very annoying, and dangerous at times, and it was happening to me almost every morning. I tried some visor wax stuff, which helped a little bit, but didn't really solve the problem. The wax did do a wonderful job of cleaning my visor though, made the visor look like new. I don't reccomend it for fogging problems, but I still plan on using it to clean my visor from now on. www.zooke.com

Anywho, after that didn't work, I picked up a Fog City Proshield. Its basically just a plastic insert that you stick on the inside of your visor. I was a little skectical at first, but I figured at less than $20 it was certainly cheaper than the alternative, which was a new Scorpion helmet. I cleaned up my visor and stuck it on. It only has glue around the outer edge, so it leaves an air gap between the visor and the insert, kindof like a double window pane.

I tried it out in the living room, put my helmet on and closed the visor for a few minutes. No fog at all, and after this morning I really know it works. I had the perfect conditions this morning for a foggy visor, and had no problems whatsoever. Fog City makes tinted and clear inserts, if you have any fog issues, I'd highly reccomend one. Only downside is that they are not reccomended for night riding, because they can increase the glare from headlights. This is fine for me, as I rarely ride at night, and I put the insert on my smoke screen that I only use in the daytime.

Thanks for being the guinea pig!

This is on your Fulmer helmet?

Yeap, on my Fulmer AFS7.

I've had one of those inserts for about two years now, but haven't put it on yet. Thanks for the review. I'll definitely install it now that I know it works...

Zooke's the same stuff I've been using. I agree. Good cleaner, not so good anti-fog agent.

I had a Progrip photosensitive insert. It totally eliminated fogging and added some tint so I never needed sunglasses while riding.

My one piece of advice is that you should make sure that you install it correctly the first time. I had to reposition mine and it was never the same after that.

Great find 87. Thanks for the review.

I've had this insert for quite a while, and I still love it. Never fogs period. Only problem I had was getting used to the seams at the top and bottom of the helmet, it looked like my visor was up slightly all the time. Now I don't even know its there, except that my visor never fogs. Its a great product that I would reccomend to anyone.

How optically pure is it? Can you notice the affects of a thin sheet of plastic in front of your eyes?

Posted by: 87hurricane

They claim it can increase glare and they don't reccomend it for nighttime riding, but I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I cleaned my visor real well before I applied it, and wasn't that impressed with the clarity initially, but after cleaning it a couple times the first few days it is crystal clear, like I said before, I don't even know its there anymore.

I use lemon pledge to stop the fogging. Yeah, you have to do it every day or two, but it seems to be doing the trick.

There is this stuff out there called Cat Crap that is supposed to be a great anti-fog agent. Never tried it myself.

i had a fog city on my old shoei rf800 and it worked really well. the only problem i has was after about 2 years it began to peal off and it would catch on the helmet opening and i couldn't open the shield until i took the helmet off...
one other thing is that i got the one that changed with the light but it didn't work that good because the shield had a uv blocker...

I cant use the Fog City for some reason. I bought one from Aerostich and installed it following all the directions and it fell off the first time I used it. I tried to stick it back on but once it falls off, it won't stay. I got a new one free from Aerostich since they said that shouldnt happen and it must have been defective. Ryan installed the second one for me since he has had no problems with his after months of use. Again, first time I wore my helmet the Fog City fell off.

Weird, mine stuck really well, and still is, I'm still using my original. I know the Scorpions are supposed to be mostly fog free anyways, maybe they use some special coating on their visors.

I got mine to stick really well on my Scorpion shield. But then I really cleaned the hell out of it, after I messed up the fog coating from the factory. I think that is probably the reason the Fog City was not sticking well.

I cleaned it with alcohol to remove the antifog layer and let it dry completely. The second time Ryan cleaned it. Dont know what's going on.
