Tool Review - Degreaser - Ultra One

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Way back when we had the CB400T and were trying to clean out one of the ebay tanks we got for it we ordered some rust remover from www.ultraone.com (I think).

They sent us a sample spray bottle of their UltraOne Heavy Duty Degreaser.

Today we used it to clean the Ducs red rims before trading them to another Ducati Monster List member for her brand new black rims .

It cut through road grime from riding in the rain, brake dust and bug guts like they all were nothing.

It's biodegradable, non-toxic - and requires no respirator or gloves. It's also safe on all surfaces: paint, aluminum, steel, etc.

We're going to order more to keep the Duc clean and maybe even the VFR more clean

THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT LINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Link now included.

On their website, it says the Port Authority chose this degreaser to clean the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels in NY/NJ. They needed something that cut through nasty grime like it was nothing but also safe for all the commuters that pass through there every day. Voila!

the best degreaser to use is dwan power scrubber it comes in little bottles at the local store... i get it in 1 gallon bottles from a place in the strip.. it cleans 20 year old grease baked on nasty stuff... works on your motor lawn mower grille oven everything it takes a few trys to get the baked on off but it comes off with high pressure and no hard scrubbing or wiping ........

Do you mean Dawn Power Dissolver?

Would that dull paint?

Posted by: Falcn

We need to find out how much a bottle of this costs. I tried sending an inquiry via their website but it didn't work.

Sent them a regular email.

ya that's it ryan...

I have started using biodiesel for a degreaser. Works great and is nontoxic except the stuff it dissolves is still nasty. I've had thoughts of using it for cleaning chains, but I'm too chicken and will stick to kero.

By comparison, it works much better than WD40 for getting rid of grime.

No way, not paint, a solvent like toluene on xylene is the only thing strong enough to get rid of paint. The only problem could be prolonged use of the ammonia containing ingredients (there are amine oxides in the formula, they are the foaming agents/surfactants). These will begin to discolor, and then break down the clearcoat on most auto/motorcycle finishes. But the paint will be fine!

Would a good rinse prevent the breakdown of the clear - or is the damage done as soon as you apply the soap?

Posted by: Oxi-Rider

It is not a super fast process, and such, rinsing it off a little faster won't make much difference. With regular use, it will yellow your clearcoat. Every once in a blue moon, it won't do a thing.

Oh, and using something like that will without a doubt strip every ounce of wax you have on there off with one use.

True - always wax after washing with anything.

Here is the link to UltraOne's page where you can actually order their Degreaser and Rust Remover.

We just recently ordered a gallon since that is the smallest size available of the Degreaser. It comes with a large squirt bottle so you can dilute it for use. We kept the small sample bottle we were sent with the Rust Remover and filled it up to conveniently use the degreaser neat. We made a 20% dilution for the squirt bottle, which Ultraone recommends for really nasty jobs. It is safe to use on any surface. We have gotten grease and oil out of the carpet, clothing, skin, and of course motorcycle parts.

Did you guys order the "Heavy Duty Degreaser" or the "G-5 Degreaser?" I think I'm gonna get some of this stuff, it rokked for degunking the bird's nest!

Posted by: Falcn

Heavy duty. The G5 is the gel version - you probably wouldn't be able to put that in a squirt bottle.

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. There's a great video on that website, by the way, of some guy using the G-5 to clean off a portion of the wall of the Holland Tunnel, and it's really amazing how filthy it was beforehand...

I saw in the shoutbox that you got in some UltraOne - have you used it yet?

Not yet, I'm going to (finally) give the bike a good wash and wax this weekend if the weather holds out like it's supposed to. I don't think the poor thing has been cleaned in quite a while...

That stuff worked great when we were using it in your garage the other weekend, though. It even dissolved some of the sticks and candy wrappers that were stuck behind my sprocket cover!

Bah! For a bike older than you, its pretty damn clean!

Posted by: RupturedDust

I'm older, but just barely!

And I think I have OCD when it comes to keeping vehicles clean. I wash my cars all the time, keeps 'em shiny.
