Clutch cable expert opinions needed

I am having issues with my clutch cable... When i first got the bike everything was fine until one day the clutch lever would not disengage the clutch after a long highway trip. So I sat stranded until I figured I could try adjusting the cable and see if that worked. sure enough it worked.. So I had to adjust the screw till it was almost all the way out. I figured hey this is not good. so after the first maintenence (they did a crap job adjusting the cable again) I decided to adjust the cable at the engine.. so i put the scre back in at the clutch lever and adjusted as much as I could at the engine.. then fine tuned it at the lever. Now it is lose once again... and both are almost out.. i understand that a cable can get loose under heat but damn this is ridicualous. especially with it being aircraft cable... it should not have loosened up that much.. the bike is still under warranty should I just take it in and let them take care of it.. or just replace the cable myself or is this normal..

Thanks

Did you try lubing it?

If the cable is dry/rusty it will stretch a lot more than if it is not under such high loads.

Replace the cable if it is stretching that fast!

We have no time line here, nor do we know your riding style. Are you "covering" your clutch at all times maybe ??? You may not know you are doing it....
Anyway I would have THEM replace it. They need to tell you why it is going so fast.

Something bad is going on here...

well my riding style is non squiddish.. back and forth to work.. the bike only has around 800 miles on it... the issue started getting bad around the 450 mark... also since the 600 mile maintanence I noticed it is harder to get into neutral than before I wonder if it is related...

If it's under warrantee, I would just have them replace it. I agree, ask them why it's going to quickly. Find out if it's a defective issue, or rider issue...so you can keep it from happening again.

Yes, if your clutch is not fully disengaging it will be tough to find neutral. With only 800 miles the cable should be still good. What do you mean with it being aircraft cable. Is this some retro-fitted cable, or the OEM cable?

it is the OEM cable but the style of "wound cable" used in the clutch cables is called aircraft cable...

it is now fixed.. it appears there are three point that can be adjusted on the cable.. two of them I did and the thrid in a gear under the cover? they said the lock nut backed out and continued to do so... that meant ever time I used the clutch the cable would slacken ever so slightly... feels like a new clutch now...

The gear setup in the clutch cover is funky, but there is no adjustment there that I know of, unless it was coming apart. Glad you got it fixed, hope they fixed it right and it won't happen again.

he called it some kind of gear.. has a lock nut on it that was backing out almost everytime I used the clutch... the clutch was gettign harder and harder to use (pressure wise) now it feels like butta... so much better than before...
