Looks like there are multiple places it could be leaking.

If I am reading the schematic correctly there is an overflow tube, and then 2 other tubes that run from the cap area to the bottom of the tank.

Is the cross-bar bolted to the tank?

hmmm.

i went on kawiforums and someone mentioned that they had a bad weld on an 05 so i pm'ed him and asked him where on the tank it was. he said kawasaki replaced it since it was a manuf. defect.

checked for recalls and there are none (outstanding)

i'm baffled but i'm almost positive that it's coming from the top part of the tank and since i had it at a down angle, that allowed it to leak out.

i felt along the top again above the foam and it was wet in spots but i couldn't get my fingers in enough to feel anything. once it dries out, i'll just have to drain it and tear the plastic off the front to have a better look i guess.

really odd

Could be a bad weld.

It looks like there might be some kind of connector under the foam - you can see it to the left of the 51084B~D

possibly low fuel sensor? i know it comes on where there is 1 gallon left since the bike doesn't have a reserve.

Can you pressure test it somehow?

dunno, i was hoping that ryan would know if we could or not

You would need to make a plug (or something) for the filler hole and vent line with an input like a schrader valve to be able to pump air into the tank.
